JAKARTA – The Government is also providing toll tariff reductions on several sections of the Trans-Sumatra Expressway during the 2026 Eid return migration period.

The discount offered reaches 30 per cent on several key toll sections that serve as intercity travel routes across Sumatra.

This policy is part of the Government’s efforts to reduce travel costs for citizens whilst helping to ease traffic congestion during the return migration period.

Based on information from the Ministry of Public Works (PU) and the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), the tariff reduction applies to several key sections of the Trans-Sumatra Expressway, particularly those connecting Lampung, South Sumatra, and North Sumatra regions.

Overall, the tariff reduction of up to 30 per cent is applied during the return migration period with schedules that may vary on each toll section.

As an illustration, a journey from Jakarta to Palembang via the Trans-Java and Trans-Sumatra expressway networks, which previously charged a tariff of approximately Rp 626,000, can be reduced to around Rp 458,250 after applying the discount.

This tariff reduction is expected to assist return migrants heading to Sumatra, particularly those using the overland route via the Merak–Bakauheni ferry crossing before continuing their journey on the Trans-Sumatra Expressway.
