Banten Governor Andra Soni raised concerns about road damage on the Tangerang-Merak Motorway (Tamer) ahead of the 2026 Eid holiday exodus. The motorway operator, Astra Tol Tamer, stated that repairs are being conducted in phases.

“As the operator, Astra Tol Tamer is committed to maintaining service standards and road user safety through routine maintenance and road surface repairs at various points requiring attention. The maintenance team regularly inspects the road and addresses identified damage with repairs as quickly as possible,” said Uswatun Hasanah, Sustainability Management & Corporate Communication Officer at Astra Tol Tamer, on Tuesday (10/3/2026).

However, Uswatun stated that weather presents a significant challenge to the repair process. Additionally, overloaded trucks are accelerating road deterioration on the Tamer Motorway.

“Nonetheless, in the repair process there are several factors beyond our control that can affect the pace of work, including weather conditions with substantial rainfall in recent weeks. Furthermore, overloaded vehicles (overdimension and overload/ODOL) that continue to use the motorway are also accelerating road surface deterioration,” she explained.

Bitung to Karawaci Not Under Tamer Jurisdiction

Uswatun also addressed public complaints regarding damage between Bitung and Karawaci. According to her, that road section falls outside Astra Tol Tamer’s authority.

“Regarding reports mentioning the location from Bitung to Karawaci, we must clarify that this section does not fall under Astra Tol Tamer’s management. Astra Tol Tamer operates the section from Bitung (Km 26) to Merak (Km 98), so repairs on the Bitung-Karawaci section (Km 20-26) fall under the authority of a different toll road operator,” she said.

However, for road damage within the Tamer Motorway under its management, the operator will proceed with staged repairs. Astra Tol Tamer aims to ensure that the public can travel safely and smoothly during the Eid exodus.

“Nevertheless, on sections under Astra Tol Tamer’s management, we continue to take phased repair measures and ensure the toll road service is ready ahead of the Eid holiday exodus, so that road users’ journeys can proceed safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” she added.

Andra Expects Tamer Repairs Completion

Earlier, Banten Governor Andra Soni received public complaints regarding road damage on the Tangerang-Merak Motorway (Tamer) ahead of the holiday exodus. Andra expressed hope that the Tamer Motorway operator will complete repairs according to the agreed timeline.

“I received several complaints from the public regarding the toll road. We have communicated with the toll road operator, with the target to be completed by H-10 before Eid,” said Andra in Serang City, Tuesday (10/3/2026).

He also expressed hope that weather conditions will support repair operations. According to him, heavy rainfall in recent days has hindered the repair project.

“However, we see that rainfall remains high and this is somewhat impeding the repair processes. But repair efforts continue nonetheless because this is our responsibility to carry out,” he said.

It is noted that Eid falls on 21 March 2026, meaning H-10 (10 days before) falls on this date.
