Tokopedia has launched TokoClinic by Tokopedia Farma, an integrated telemedicine service combining online doctor consultations with a network of over 3,000 licensed pharmacies across Indonesia. The service was introduced to address challenges in accessing fast and convenient healthcare, particularly in Indonesia’s archipelagic regions. Meanwhile, the rise in online medicine purchases has also raised concerns regarding safety and appropriate drug usage. Through TokoClinic by Tokopedia Farma, users can consult licensed doctors, obtain digital prescriptions, and safely purchase medications via Tokopedia’s partner pharmacy network—all within a single app. For instance, users needing specific medication can first consult a doctor online, receive a digital prescription, then purchase the prescribed drugs without switching apps. ‘Through TokoClinic, we aim to ensure online medicine purchases are not only convenient but also safer and more responsible. Throughout 2025, Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) uncovered 197,725 links selling illegal medicines and food products on digital platforms. The findings underscore the importance of regulatory oversight and medical guidance in online drug purchases. TokoClinic features a verified digital prescription system allowing doctors to issue prescriptions directly in the app after consultation. This system ensures purchased medications comply with prescriptions and online distribution regulations, enabling safer and more responsible drug use. Meanwhile, the national pharmaceutical industry continues to show positive growth, with a projected market value of Rp 225 trillion by 2030, driven by rising public healthcare demands and accelerated digital transformation in the healthcare sector. Amidst this growth, pharmaceutical companies must adapt to healthcare digital transformation through integrated technology-based systems and services to support a more modern and accessible health ecosystem.
