JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Tokopedia has launched TokoClinic by Tokopedia Farma, an integrated telemedicine service allowing users to consult licensed doctors and obtain digital prescriptions. Additionally, users can purchase medications through over 3,000 licensed partner pharmacies within a single app. The service launch comes amid challenges in healthcare access across Indonesia’s archipelago and rising online medicine purchases, which have raised concerns over safety and appropriate medication usage. ‘Through TokoClinic, we aim to ensure that online medicine purchases are not only convenient but also safer and more responsible. By integrating doctor consultations, digital prescriptions, and medication purchases into a single workflow, we hope to provide the public with more trustworthy healthcare access,’ Stephanie said in a press release on Wednesday (27 May 2026). With the service, users needing specific medications can first consult a doctor online, receive a digital prescription, then purchase the prescribed medicine without switching apps. Tokopedia noted that the rise in digital medicine transactions also poses challenges regarding drug distribution oversight. The company stated that this highlights the need for medical supervision and guidance in online medication purchases. TokoClinic features a verified digital prescription mechanism allowing doctors to issue prescriptions directly in the app post-consultation. The system is said to help ensure purchased medications comply with prescriptions and online distribution regulations. Meanwhile, Tokopedia believes the national pharmaceutical industry continues to show positive growth. According to a report by BMI, part of Fitch Solutions Company, Indonesia’s pharmaceutical market potential is projected to reach Rp 225 trillion by 2030. Growth is driven by increased public healthcare demand and accelerated digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
