Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tokocrypto views the government’s step to include the crypto sector in the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) as evidence of efforts to clarify regulations in that sector.

This step is considered positive as it increasingly provides legitimacy to the domestic crypto industry.

Tokocrypto CEO Calvin Kizana stated that the KBLI update serves as a strong signal of the government’s seriousness in accommodating the development of the crypto asset industry.

“This KBLI update is a strong signal that the government is increasingly serious about accommodating the development of the crypto asset industry. With clearer classification, business actors have certainty in running their businesses while opening up greater room for growth in innovation in this sector,” said Calvin in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.

The Indonesian government previously officially updated the KBLI as a strategic step to respond to the rapid growth of the digital economy and the emergence of various new business models.

In its implementation, the government provides facilities for business actors to adjust their business data to the latest KBLI.

The synchronisation process is carried out automatically through the integrated Online Single Submission (OSS) licensing system, so no complex procedures are required.

One important point in this update is the inclusion of the “Digital Financial Asset Brokerage” category with KBLI code 66123.

This classification covers activities that facilitate the trading of digital financial assets, including crypto, where business actors can conduct transactions on exchanges on behalf of customers or other parties.

According to Calvin, the presence of this category provides legal and operational clarity for crypto asset industry players in Indonesia.

Official recognition through KBLI will facilitate crypto-based companies and projects in developing their businesses in Indonesia.

“Regulatory clarity like this not only increases confidence among industry players but also encourages new investments and accelerates broader adoption of blockchain technology,” he said.

KBLI is an important reference for classifying business fields in Indonesia while facilitating business actors in determining their business categories.

With this update, the government is expected to create a business ecosystem that is more adaptive to technological developments.

On the other hand, the contribution of the crypto asset industry to state revenue also continues to show a positive trend.

Taxes from crypto transactions were recorded at Rp1.96 trillion throughout the period from 2022 to February 2026, reflecting the great potential of the sector as a new source of economic growth.

With the inclusion of the crypto sector in the latest KBLI, Calvin views this step as an important foundation in strengthening the national digital industry ecosystem while enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness amid the global economic transformation.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the KBLI update aims to accommodate strategic sectors that were previously not comprehensively mapped in the national classification system.

“In this update, the digital economy sector, artificial intelligence, and crypto assets have been included in the latest classification,” said Airlangga in a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

He added that the classification structure has been aligned with global industry standards to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the international market.
