Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tokocrypto, Calvin Kizana, believes that Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regulation Number 6 of 2026, which tightens rules for information providers in the financial services sector, is a vital step towards strengthening communication governance within the crypto asset industry.

According to Calvin, the rapid development of crypto assets must be balanced with more responsible communication standards. This is particularly important given that social media and influencers wield significant influence in shaping public perception of digital asset investments.

“POJK Number 6 of 2026 provides a clearer framework for parties conveying information in the financial services sector, including crypto assets. This is essential to ensure that the information received by the public is not only engaging but also accurate, balanced, transparent, and mindful of risks,” Calvin stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Monday.

For context, the OJK issued POJK Number 6 of 2026 concerning the Conduct of Information Providers in the Financial Services Sector. The regulation governs parties outside of Financial Service Providers (PUJK) who disseminate information related to the financial services sector, whether through education, marketing, or providing recommendations to the public.

Furthermore, any paid collaborations, commissions, affiliations, or other economic interests must be disclosed to the public. Specifically for high-risk products such as crypto assets, influencers must also include risk warnings, emphasise the need for the public to conduct independent analysis, and explain that such products are not suitable for all individuals.

For industry players, Calvin believes these provisions will directly impact crypto influencers and content creators who have played a role in shaping public understanding of digital assets.

Moving forward, they will be required to exercise greater caution when preparing communication materials, ensuring the use of data, citing information sources, and avoiding claims that have the potential to be misleading.
