Allegations of medical malpractice involving a toddler have emerged at RSUD Prambanan, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta. A three-year-old child, identified by the initials NDMP, passed away after receiving three sedative injections and undergoing a Computed Tomography (CT) scan at the hospital.

The victim’s family has initiated legal proceedings, filing a report with the DIY Regional Police (Polda DIY) on 17 May 2026. The mother, Anastacia Niken Purwandari, appeared at the Ditreskrimsus Polda DIY on Tuesday (2/6) accompanied by legal counsel to provide testimony regarding the alleged medical negligence.

According to the legal representative, Purnomo Susanto, the child was referred to RSUD Prambanan in March 2026 for follow-up care regarding microcephaly. On 27 April 2026, a doctor recommended a CT scan. During the procedure, the child was administered sedation via intravenous drip. Following the sedation and scan, the child failed to regain consciousness and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Reports from nursing staff indicated the child experienced vomiting blood, respiratory arrest, and seizures before being declared dead at 02:20 WIB on 28 April 2026.

The legal team alleges violations of the Consumer Protection Act and the Health Act, suggesting breaches in standard operating procedures. Specifically, they argue that a CT scan of this nature should have been recommended by a paediatric neurologist and that the administration of sedation should have been strictly supervised by an anaesthetist.

The Director of RSUD Sleman, Ratih Susila, stated that a medical audit has been conducted and that a medical summary will be presented to the family’s legal counsel. Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda DIY, Kombes Pol Ihsan, confirmed that the case is currently in the investigation stage.
