Toddler found dead with stab wounds in Bekasi rental house as police question 10 witnesses and secure CCTV footage

BEKASI — a two-year-old child identified as MAJ was found dead in a rental house in the Omah Seruni 99 area, RT 02/RW 10, Jatirangga Village, Jatisampurna Subdistrict, Bekasi City, West Java, on Wednesday evening (27 May 2026). MAJ was discovered alongside his uncle SG, 18, who sustained injuries. The incident was first reported by the victim’s grandmother, M, 60, upon returning home from selling cakes around 10pm. SG was breathing but injured when found. ’ SG was taken to Jatisampurna Regional Hospital for treatment as he was still breathing,’ Taufik told reporters at the scene on Thursday (28 May 2026). ’ The toddler died at the scene.’ The grandmother works late to earn a living, while MAJ’s mother lives in Yogyakarta. Taufik stated he saw a knife at the scene after arriving at the rental house following M’s screams. ’ It appears to be a murder case as there was a knife present at the scene, though it was lying on the ground,’ he said. Only the victim and SG were inside the locked rental house at the time. Taufik added that SG has mental disabilities and struggles to communicate with neighbours. ’ He has special needs and is difficult to communicate with,’ he added.
