JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to depart for the Philippines on Thursday (7/5/2026), today.

The visit is to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.

“It seems he will also attend, as it is important. But the details will be explained by the relevant minister or the President himself,” said the Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

However, Aris declined to provide detailed explanations regarding Prabowo’s visit to the Philippines.

He stated that State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Foreign Minister Sugiono are more authorised to explain Prabowo’s foreign visit.

“If I’m not mistaken, what date? The 7th? But that will be explained for sure later. I don’t want to preempt it,” he said.

The same was expressed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, that the Head of State will fly to the Philippines today.

According to Bahlil, President Prabowo Subianto will discuss energy and food issues at the 48th ASEAN Summit.

“Tomorrow, God willing, the President will attend the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. The issues are two: first, food, and second, energy,” said Bahlil when met at the Ministry of ESDM, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/4/2026).

Moreover, Indonesia is one of the countries in Southeast Asia developing an integrated battery ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

“Coincidentally, in Southeast Asia, not all countries have a battery ecosystem factory from upstream to downstream. Indonesia is one that is developing it,” he said.

“So it’s not about cooperation for us to invest there, but they might be able to supply if we are short. If we lack raw materials, they can be supplied from anywhere. So there is no more specific technical cooperation issue, there isn’t,” Bahlil explained.
