Today, Prabowo to Attend Labour Day Commemoration at Monas

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will attend the Labour Day or May Day commemoration at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). “President Prabowo is scheduled, God willing, to attend the peak of the 2026 National Labour Day commemoration to be held at the National Monument in Jakarta,” said Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI M Qodari, during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026). The 2026 International Labour Day or May Day commemoration will be held at the Monas field in Central Jakarta. President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea stated that the event is estimated to be attended by hundreds of thousands of workers. Thus, the total number of participants is estimated to reach around 400,000 people. Andi also confirmed that the Head of State and international labour figures will attend the May Day event. “And it will also be attended by President Prabowo Subianto. Then there will also be international labour figures who will attend directly,” said Andi Gani. In addition, workers from the Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPI) will also attend the May Day event at Monas. KSPI President Said Iqbal said that around 50,000 KSPI members who will come are from various regions such as Greater Jakarta, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Greater Bandung, to Greater Cirebon. This May Day commemoration will also be enlivened by performances from artists and bands including Tipe X.
