JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The trial in the alleged corruption case regarding the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops, which implicates former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim, has entered a new phase.

The panel of judges has scheduled the reading of the public prosecutor’s demands for Wednesday (13/5/2026), amid proceedings that also highlight the defendant’s health condition.

Presiding Judge Purwanto S. Abdullah stated that the prosecutors requested time to present the demands against Nadiem.

“And at the request of the public prosecutor, we ask for the opportunity to read the demands on Wednesday, 13 May 2026,” said Purwanto during the trial on Monday night (11/5/2026).

Ibrahim was sentenced to 4 years in prison in this Chromebook procurement case.

During the trial, the panel of judges also addressed Nadiem’s health condition, as he is undergoing medical treatment and is scheduled for surgery after the prosecution phase.

“We will provide ample time. Earlier, the medical team requested 3 to 6 weeks after the procedure,” Purwanto stated.

The panel of judges has opened the possibility for the plea hearing to take place in early June 2026, considering the defendant’s recovery period.

Nevertheless, Nadiem requested that the trial process continue.

“I ask that, despite all my medical difficulties, I also want this trial to proceed,” Nadiem said.

He also requested the opportunity to participate in the trial, either virtually or in person if his health permits.

In this case, Nadiem and three other defendants are said to have caused a state financial loss of Rp 2.1 trillion.

Nadiem is accused of enriching himself by Rp 809 billion, which is alleged to stem from Google’s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.
