JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives will hold a Public Hearing (RDPU) regarding the case of videographer Amsal Sitepu on Monday (30/3/2026) today, at 09.00 WIB.

The videographer from North Sumatra is the defendant in a case of alleged corruption in the production of village profile videos in Karo Regency.

Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, stated that the RDPU is being held to respond to public demands that view the handling of the case as fraught with injustice.

“The RDPU is being held to address the numerous public demands that consider the case to be coloured by injustice,” said Habiburokhman in a written statement on Sunday (29/3/2026).

However, Habiburokhman continued, videography work is creative work that does not have fixed price standards.

Therefore, assessments of the service costs are often subjective.

“Videography work is creative work that does not have certain standards for pricing,” emphasised Habiburokhman.

Commission III reminds law enforcement authorities to prioritise substantive justice in handling the case.

This aligns with the spirit of the new Criminal Code (KUHP) and Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

In this case, Amsal is facing a demand of two years’ imprisonment, a fine of Rp50 million, and an obligation to repay state losses of Rp202 million.

He is charged under Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Quoting the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) page of the Medan District Court, Amsal is known to serve as Director of CV Promiseland, which submitted proposals for village profile video production to several village heads.
