Tobacco firm backs shooting meet

JAKARTA: The upcoming AustralAsia Shooting Championship IPSC Level IV, an inter-continental practical shooting championship, has received a sponsorship commitment from a cigarette maker, PT HM Sampoerna.

"The championship will be supported by PT HM Sampoerna, Tbk, through its brand Dji Sam Soe Super Premium," a statement said here on Friday.

The championship will run from Nov. 27 to Dec. 4 at Serangan island, Bali, with about 400 shooters attending from around the world. World champion Eric Grauffel of France is expected to take part in the event.

The highlight of the event will be the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) General Assembly on Nov. 28 featuring representatives from 40 countries. --JP
