To Support Economic Growth, BPOM Accelerates Regulatory Services for Medicines and Foods
We want to ensure the national medicines and foods industry grows healthily, competitively, and is capable of becoming a driver of the national economy,” Taruna Ikrar, Head of BPOM, said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Agency for Drug and Food Control (BPOM) said it supports the agenda for national economic growth through the acceleration of regulatory services and the strengthening of the investment ecosystem in the medicines and foods sector, to create a healthy business climate while not compromising safety and public protection. “We want to ensure the national medicines and foods industry grows healthily, competitively, and is able to become a driver of the national economy,” Taruna Ikrar said in Jakarta on Thursday. He conveyed this in response to the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) with the agenda of presenting the Macro Economic Framework (KER-M) and the Core Policies of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for RAPBN 2027. He added that BPOM’s transformation steps are in line with President Prabowo’s directive for all government agencies to create bureaucracies that are effective and deliver tangible impacts on national economic growth and the welfare of the people. “BPOM not only carries out supervisory functions but also acts as an enabler for the business world. With regulations that are faster, more transparent, and accountable, we hope investment in the medicines and foods sector, including cosmetics, will continue to rise, and will be able to create jobs and strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness,” he said.
