To Strengthen Legal Literacy, Metro Jaya Police Hands Over Latest Legal References to Police Academy Cadets
The Metro Jaya Police conducted an activity to strengthen legal literacy among future Polri (Indonesian National Police) officers. The Deputy Director of the Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Danang Setiyo Pambudi, presented three fundamental legal reference books to 17 cadets from the Police Academy (Akpol) who are currently undertaking field practice within the Metro Jaya Police.
The handover took place at the Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Building on Friday, May 15, 2026. The Metro Jaya Police provided books on Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), and a book on amendments to criminal law as outlined in Law Number 1 of 2026.
“This step is taken as a strategic measure to ensure that the Akpol cadets have a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of criminal law in Indonesia,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, in a written statement.
He stated that the Akpol cadets are the future generation of the Polri. He added that these future officers must master legal issues.
“As the future generation of the institution, the cadets are required to master procedural law and the principles of law, to ensure that every future police action remains within the applicable legal framework,” he said.
Budi said that mastery of the latest laws is key to creating professional Polri personnel. He said that national legal reforms require every Polri member to continuously update their knowledge.
“This activity is a commitment of the institution in preparing officers who are literate in law. Mastery of Law Number 1 of 2023, Law Number 20 of 2025, and Law Number 1 of 2026 is the foundation for cadets so that when they are on duty later, they can implement the values of justice and professionalism in the field,” he explained.
He hopes that a collective awareness will emerge among future officers that law enforcement is not just a routine. He also invited the public to continue to participate in maintaining public security and order.
“The Metro Jaya Police always appeals to the public to remain calm and support every effort to strengthen the capacity of police personnel. Public participation in complying with applicable legal norms greatly helps create a conducive public security and order situation in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Continue to be a partner of the Polri in maintaining public order for the safety of all,” he said.
