Bank Indonesia (BI) continues to actively purchase government securities (SBN) until April 2026. According to the central bank’s records, SBN purchases have reached Rp111.54 trillion as of 21 April 2026.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that these SBN purchases include BI’s acquisitions in the secondary market amounting to Rp56.3 trillion.

“SBN purchases in the secondary market are in line with market mechanisms to maintain economic stability,” emphasised Perry during the Board of Governors Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

According to him, this policy is also part of efforts to support rupiah stability. In line with this policy, BI continues to optimise pro-market instruments to attract foreign capital inflows through Indonesian Rupiah Securities (SRBI).

From BI data, the SRBI position as of 21 April 2026 has reached Rp885.41 trillion. This breaks down to non-resident ownership of Rp165.98 trillion or 18.75%.

Meanwhile, this policy also aligns with BI’s efforts to maintain rupiah stability. Previously, BI has stated that the issuance of SRBI instruments will be intensified to maintain the attractiveness of rupiah assets, while attracting capital inflows to prevent deepening pressure on the exchange rate.

BI Information Executive Director Ramdan Denny Prakoso said that SRBI has undergone several improvements to support the entry of foreign funds into the Indonesian securities market.

“SRBI has undergone several improvements, so it is hoped that there will also be capital inflows into the Indonesian securities market. Especially also supported by SRBI,” he said when met at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta some time ago (8/4/2026).
