To Smooth Mudik Traffic, KDM Provides Compensation for Coin Collectors at Sewo Bridge
Activities by residents collecting coins at Sewo Bridge, the border between Indramayu and Subang Regencies, have always hindered the regulation of Eid mudik traffic flow. Not only do they disrupt smoothness, but these activities also pose accident risks to both the coin seekers and vehicle users. To address this situation, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has intervened by providing compensation to each coin seeker around Sewo Bridge. The compensation amount received by each coin seeker is Rp50,000 per day. This compensation is given so that they do not carry out their habit of collecting coins during the Eid al-Fitr mudik and return traffic period. According to KDM, the familiar name for Dedi Mulyadi, this policy is taken to ensure that the mudik and return Eid al-Fitr traffic is not obstructed by the activities of the coin seekers. Additionally, it is to maintain the safety of drivers on that route. “This afternoon I am giving Eid money, you must not collect coins on the Indramayu-Subang route,” said KDM on Wednesday (18/3/2026). KDM asked the coin seekers to coordinate with the village head to receive the compensation money. The RT and RW parties will first record the coin sweepers who are eligible to receive compensation.
