JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged the public to undertake ‘mudik ke Jakarta’ for Idul Fitri 2026. He said the move could also help curb excessive fuel consumption. He made the remarks while responding to concerns about fuel availability amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. ‘I continue to urge mudik to Jakarta so that fuel is not wasted elsewhere; hopefully this can work well,’ Pramono said when he was interviewed in the Srengseng area, South Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026).

Therefore, he believes people do not need to worry to the extent of panic buying petrol. ‘All stock in Jakarta is managed together with the central government, not by the regional government alone. But managed jointly. I believe Jakarta will not experience panic buying for fuel,’ he added. He added that Jakarta is one of the priority areas in energy distribution. Therefore, fuel availability will be maintained, especially ahead of the Lebaran mudik period.

Earlier, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said national fuel reserves currently suffice for about 20 days. Bahlil said this ahead of a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026), to discuss the Middle East geopolitical situation. ‘Still enough, 20 days,’ he said at the Palace in Jakarta. ‘Up to today there is no problem, but world prices will likely adjust when geopolitical conditions in the Middle East continue to intensify,’ he added.
