To Prevent Misunderstanding, Legislator Stresses Importance of Clarification on Account Blocking in Pati Demo
Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Firnando Hadityo Ganinduto, has encouraged the public not to rush to conclusions regarding information about the freezing of a Bank Mandiri account.
Firnando invited the public to await an official explanation from the authorities so that the matter can be fully understood.
Firnando stated that Bank Mandiri has regulations, procedures, and governance that must be adhered to in carrying out banking activities. This includes the restriction or temporary suspension of transactions on certain accounts.
Such actions may be taken based on banking provisions or when there is a basis or request from the authorities in a legal process.
“Bank Mandiri, as one of the banks within the state-owned enterprise group, certainly has rules and procedures that must be followed. Therefore, we need to view this matter comprehensively and await official clarification from the relevant parties,” Firnando said in his statement on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
Firnando explained that if the account freezing is related to legal proceedings against a person with the status of a defendant, the public needs to understand the mechanism. Moreover, the status of a defendant does not mean that a person has been proven guilty.
“Because the judicial process must still be respected until there is a court ruling that has permanent legal force,” Firnando said.
Firnando also asked the public not to speculate if there is involvement of law enforcement officials. According to him, information regarding the basis for the freezing, the party with the authority, and the procedures carried out should be conveyed through official clarification.
“So as not to cause misunderstandings or harm certain parties,” said the Golkar Party legislator.
