To Prevent Illegal Parking, Police to Be Deployed Around Istiqlal During Tomorrow's Eid Prayer
Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Komarudin has reminded the public planning to perform Eid prayers at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta not to follow the directions of illegal parking attendants. He stated that the phenomenon of illegal parking during Eid prayers can cause traffic jams.
“We also urge the public not to follow the instructions often given by illegal parking attendants, which usually only create blockages or problems on the roads,” Komarudin said at Bundaran HI, Jakarta, on Friday (20/3/2026).
Komarudin explained that roads leading to Istiqlal are frequently used for illegal parking. This phenomenon causes congestion on several roads around Istiqlal during Eid prayers.
“This is usually a phenomenon that occurs almost every year; Jalan Juanda is filled with parking for worshippers attending Eid prayers at Istiqlal,” he said.
Police officers will be deployed at several points to regulate traffic flow and anticipate illegal parking. Members of Polda Metro Jaya assigned to Operasi Ketupat 2026 will be mobilised for security.
“We will deploy our officers. Follow the instructions and directions of our officers in the field,” he stated.
He added that the police have already begun securing Muhammadiyah’s Eid prayers held today, Friday (20/3). For tomorrow’s Eid prayers, the police will also provide security.
“We will soon carry out security operations for the Eid prayers of our Muhammadiyah brothers, yes. At half past five, we will deploy at several points, one of the largest being in Menteng,” he mentioned.
It is known that the government has officially announced that Eid al-Fitr, 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Lebaran 2026, falls on 21 March 2026. This was announced following the government’s Isbat session on Thursday (19/3).
