The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub DKI Jakarta) has revealed that there was no coordination from the organisers prior to the music concert held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, South Jakarta, on Sunday night (31/05/2026), regarding traffic management. This lack of communication was cited as a primary cause of congestion on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, as visitor vehicles were parked on the roadside and pavements.

The Head of Jakarta’s Transportation Agency, Budi Awaludin, stated that his office received no notification or coordination regarding the requirements for traffic and parking management for the event. According to Budi, coordination before large-scale events is crucial so that the agency can implement anticipatory measures, such as preparing parking areas, deploying officers to the field, and implementing traffic engineering or diversions if necessary.

To prevent a recurrence, the Jakarta Provincial Government is currently drafting a licensing mechanism that mandates coordination between event organisers and relevant authorities. Budi explained that these provisions will be integrated into the process of applying for technical recommendations (rekomtek) through the One-Stop Integrated Services (PTSP) and the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Budi also expressed an apology for the disruption. “We apologise to those affected by the congestion in the Rasuna Said area,” he said.

Previously, footage uploaded by the Instagram account @ijoeel went viral on social media, showing several cars parked up to three layers deep along the roadside. This narrowed the traffic flow and caused significant congestion on one of South Jakarta’s main thoroughfares.
