To Prevent Direct Interactions, Sidoarjo Police Resort Intensifies Handheld E-TLE Use
The Traffic Directorate of Sidoarjo Police Resort is optimising the use of handheld E-TLE cameras in traffic operations to minimise direct interactions. A total of 220 out of 473 violations were recorded using this mobile device, demonstrating the effectiveness of the technology in apprehending traffic offenders.
Enforcement focused on several high-risk points for violations and accidents in Sidoarjo Regency on Monday (27/4/2026). During the operation, traffic officers conducted mobile enforcement using the E-TLE handheld device, a camera integrated to record road user violations directly in the field.
Sidoarjo Police Chief Kombes Pol Christian Tobing stated that enforcement with handheld E-TLE represents transparency and accountability of the Indonesian National Police, while also minimising direct and transactional interactions in the field.
“With this system, every violation is recorded electronically, thereby minimising the potential for direct interactions that could lead to procedural breaches. We hope the public becomes increasingly aware and compliant with traffic rules for collective safety,” said Kombes Christian.
Meanwhile, Head of Traffic Directorate of Sidoarjo Police Resort, AKP Yudhi Anugrah Putra, added that the activity not only focuses on enforcement but also serves as a means of education for the public.
“Through handheld E-TLE, we aim to build a sustainable culture of orderly traffic. This enforcement is carried out in a humane and professional manner, and is expected to provide a deterrent effect for violators to avoid repeating the same mistakes,” said Yudha.
This handheld E-TLE enforcement activity is expected to suppress the number of traffic violations and accidents in Sidoarjo Regency, while increasing public trust in the professional, modern, and reliable performance of the Indonesian National Police.
The Traffic Directorate of Sidoarjo Police Resort will continue to optimise technology-based law enforcement and prioritise educational, persuasive, and humane approaches to realise safe, orderly, and smooth traffic in Sidoarjo Regency.
One road user who was caught, Budi Santoso (35), admitted to accepting the enforcement given by the officers well.
“I acknowledge my mistake while driving and accept the enforcement given. This becomes a lesson for me to be more orderly and comply with traffic rules. In the future, I will be more disciplined for road safety,” he said.
In the enforcement, a total of 473 violations were recorded by the E-TLE camera, with details of 61 violations (E-TLE mobile), 164 violations (E-TLE static in Krian), 28 violations (E-TLE static Kletek), and 220 violations (E-TLE handheld).
