To Prevent Congestion, Police Recommend Holidaymakers Utilise WFA

JAKARTA - The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Irjen Pol. Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the peak of the return flow is expected to occur on 24 March 2026. However, strategic measures have already begun from 22 to 23 March 2026, including the potential phased implementation of local one-way routes to ease density. The public is urged not to return simultaneously on the peak return flow date to avoid vehicle build-ups. Holidaymakers are also advised to utilise the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy by scheduling their return journeys for 26 to 28 March 2026. In his monitoring, Kakorlantas noted developments in vehicle volumes during the Eid exodus and return. He stated that the traffic situation remains sufficiently controlled. “On the ninth day of Operation Ketupat or two days after Eid, the traffic flow conditions are still sufficiently controlled. There is an increase in flow in line with predictions and technological monitoring results. Agglomeration movements are monitored as quite dense but still manageable well,” said Kakorlantas. The subsequent increase in flow aligns with predictions and technology-based monitoring, particularly for agglomeration movements in the Semarang Raya area to the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) region. “Several areas experiencing increased movement include Semarang Raya, Jabodetabek, as well as tourist areas in Bali, Malang Raya, Jakarta, and West Java. These tourist spots are quite popular with the public enjoying their holiday period,” he explained. “Korlantas Polri will also implement a national one-way scheme for the return flow, planned to start on 24 March 2026, in accordance with directives from the National Police Chief and coordination with the Minister of Transportation, the Director of Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja,” he added.
