Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has urged mudik participants to undertake their return journeys on 25-27 March 2026 to prevent traffic congestion. This was stated by the Director General of Land Transportation, Kemenhub, Aan Suhanan, during monitoring of the security for the Night of Takbir Eid al-Fitr 1447 H at the Promoter Building of Polda Metro Jaya on Friday. “The peak return flow, in line with predictions, is on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026. The government has implemented Work From Anywhere (WFA) on 25, 26, and 27 March 2026, so we urge all individuals planning return trips to do so on those dates,” he said. Aan added that this would prevent the public from returning during the peak periods on 24, 28, and 29 March, solely to reduce the volume of vehicles on the roads. Meanwhile, Aan noted that the series of 2026 mudik activities has generally proceeded well. “Therefore, from the government and the Ministry of Transportation, we express our thanks and appreciation first to all Indonesian citizens who have contributed and jointly carried out this mudik flow successfully,” he said. The peak return flow for the 2026 Lebaran period or Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah is predicted to occur on 24 March 2026. Additionally, he continued, a second wave of the mudik peak is expected on 28-29 March. To anticipate the increase in vehicle volume, he urged the public to return home on 26 and 27 March by taking advantage of a 30 percent toll fare discount.
