REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA Deputy Chair of DPR Commission XIII RI, Dewi Asmara, is urging an evaluation of the Support Letter service for Work and Holiday Visa (SDUWHV) due to several technical obstacles during the application process. The service is managed by the Directorate General of Immigration. This was stated by Dewi during a Hearing with Opinions (RDP) attended by the Indonesian Ombudsman and representatives of the immigration service registrants. Dewi highlighted the issue of system downtime during quota openings, which is said to disadvantage the public. Dewi views that the evaluation should not only focus on third parties or vendors but must serve as material for internal introspection within Immigration. Dewi is pushing for improvements to the standard operating procedures (SOP) for system maintenance. “We hope that Immigration reduces its dependence on third parties by organising work units that are specifically responsible for the maintenance and sustainable development of the system,” said Dewi in a written statement on Thursday (9/4/2026). Dewi also mentioned that the SDUWHV service has not yet been integrated into the national Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE). In fact, the digitalisation of public services should facilitate the public. “It should not instead create obstacles such as the manual and repetitive document upload process,” said the Golkar party politician. Dewi revealed that the RDP also discussed the status of 5,334 applicants who received quotas following the system disruption.
