To mark the 62nd Hari Bhakti Pemasyarakatan, the Class IIB Banjarbaru Penitentiary in South Kalimantan tightened supervision by conducting a search of residential blocks and mass urine tests on Monday (6 April 2026). This step was taken as a concrete commitment to creating a prison environment free from the circulation of prohibited goods.

The activity, which began at 08:40 WITA, was directly led by the Head of the Class IIB Banjarbaru Penitentiary, I Made Supartana. Not acting alone, the penitentiary collaborated across sectors by involving law enforcement apparatus (APH) from TNI, Polri, and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) elements.

This search is a follow-up to instructions from the Directorate General of Corrections of Indonesia to increase vigilance against security and order disturbances (kamtib). The presence of external personnel ensures the inspection process runs transparently and objectively.

After the preparation briefing, the joint team combed every corner of the inmates’ residential blocks. All prohibited items entering the penitentiary were inventoried in detail and then destroyed according to applicable procedures. In addition to physical structures, the inspection also targeted biological aspects through urine tests for both staff and inmates.

The Head of the Class IIB Banjarbaru Penitentiary, I Made Supartana, emphasised that this operation is part of efforts to realise ‘Zero Halinar’ (mobile phones, illicit levies, and narcotics).

“This activity is part of our commitment to creating a penitentiary free from mobile phones, illicit levies, and narcotics. Synergy with TNI, Polri, and BNN is key to maintaining security and order within the penitentiary,” stated I Made Supartana firmly.

He added that early detection like this is not only carried out during major event moments but will continue to be conducted periodically. This aims to maintain the integrity of staff and ensure inmates undergo their rehabilitation in a safe, orderly environment free from narcotic influences.
