To Majalengka, Gus Ipul Socialises DTSEN and Checks Progress of People's School

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) conducted a socialisation session on the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN) for village data operators in Majalengka Regency at the Young Teachers’ Hall, Majalengka, West Java, today. After the socialisation, Gus Ipul also checked the development of the People’s School.

Gus Ipul emphasised that data is a collective responsibility, serving as the basis for targeted assistance and empowerment programmes.

“This is our shared homework, and we will try to complete it together,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Friday (24/3/2026).

He also highlighted that there are still members of society who have not been included in the data system, for example Indriyani (12), a student at People’s Junior Secondary School 34 Majalengka who previously lived only with her mother, staying in someone else’s house.

“This is one portrait of our fellow citizens who may have been overlooked in data collection so far. What the President calls the invisible people,” stated Gus Ipul.

According to him, such conditions can occur around us without realisation.

“They could be our neighbours, they could be our relatives. But we never see their suffering,” he continued.

Gus Ipul said that improvement must start from data. He explained that the government now has DTSEN as the single data reference in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2025, managed by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

DTSEN uses a decile system, grouping society based on welfare levels from decile 1 to decile 10. He stressed that decile calculations differ at each regional level.

“National deciles differ from provincial and regency deciles. Therefore, the task of local governments together with BPS is to determine deciles in their respective areas,” he revealed.

At the regency level, deciles are determined jointly by the regency government and the regency social services office. At the provincial level, by the provincial government and provincial social services. Meanwhile, at the national level, by the Ministry of Social Affairs together with the central BPS.

In the data updating process, Gus Ipul emphasised the important role of village data operators.

“As capable as the neighbourhood heads, as capable as the village heads, it depends on the village data operators. Because it is the village data operators who input the data,” he explained.

He reminded that the data process starts from neighbourhood units (RT/RW), discussed at the village level, then inputted by village operators before being forwarded to the regency up to the central level.

“If the operator is negligent, the data can be incorrect,” he stated.

Gus Ipul said that data must be continuously updated because community conditions always change. This is because the ultimate goal of DTSEN is to ensure social assistance is on target and to encourage society to become independent.

“If the data is accurate, our social assistance will be on target. If the social assistance is on target, the family can move up a class,” he said.

After the DTSEN socialisation event, Gus Ipul, together with Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman, inspected People’s Junior Secondary School 34 Majalengka. During the visit, Gus Ipul witnessed real changes in students’ behaviour, from simple habits like praying and being orderly during meals.

“Five months ago, they came with shyness and lack of confidence; now they are much more orderly and disciplined,” he said.

A student at People’s Junior Secondary School 34 Majalengka, Zeni Indriyani (14), shared her feelings while attending school there.

“I feel very happy and excited because I can meet friends from different villages,” she said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Rega Ardiansyah (17), who had dropped out of school for two years, said he was very happy and proud to be part of People’s Junior Secondary School 34 Majalengka.

Present at the event were Deputy Regent of Majalengka Dena Muhamad Ramdhan, Chairman of the Majalengka Regency DPRD Didi Supriadi, Head of West Java Provincial Social Services Noneng Komara Nengsih, Secretary of Majalengka Regency Aeron Randi, as well as members of the Majalengka Regency Forkopimda and all attendees.

In addition to dialoguing with students, the guests were also treated to performances of speeches in English and Arabic by two People’s School students. There was also a choir performance from the People’s School.

On the same occasion, Teacher at People’s Junior Secondary School 34 Majalengka Dinda Rani Saputri also delivered Mathematics material using English as a simulation of learning at the People’s School.

Meanwhile, Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman stated that the Majalengka regional government has implemented a labelling programme for 1,025 beneficiary houses that have graduated to independence.
