To Maintain Price Stability, BULOG Releases SPHP Rice and Food Assistance
Perum BULOG continues to strengthen national food stability measures through the accelerated distribution of rice food assistance and the release of rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) across various regions to maintain affordable rice prices for the public.
The President Director of Perum BULOG, Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani (Ret.), emphasised that the government has prepared various instruments to anticipate rice price dynamics in several regions. One of the primary steps currently being implemented is the acceleration of food aid distribution and the optimisation of SPHP rice supply to traditional markets.
“As of early June 2026, the rice stock managed by BULOG has reached approximately 5.3 million tonnes. This amount is more than sufficient to meet the needs of the food assistance programme, SPHP, and various government interventions to maintain the stability of rice supply and prices throughout Indonesia,” stated Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani in a written statement on Saturday (6/6/2026).
As of 6 June 2026, the distribution of rice food assistance has reached almost 60 per cent, having been received by nearly 20 million Food Assistance Recipients (PBP) out of a total target of 33.2 million PBP. The government aims to have all food assistance distributed by the end of June 2026.
The acceleration of food aid distribution is believed to have a direct impact on strengthening public purchasing power while helping to dampen rice price pressures at the consumer level.
In addition to food assistance, BULOG is also continuing to optimise the distribution of SPHP rice, reaching 315,000 tonnes across various official distribution channels, including traditional markets, food kiosks, Cheap Food Movements (GPM), and retail networks working in collaboration with local governments.
“SPHP rice is a strategic government instrument to ensure the public can still obtain rice at affordable prices. Therefore, we are continuing to accelerate and expand its distribution so that the benefits can be felt evenly,” said Ahmad Rizal.
The government considers the combination of food assistance distribution and SPHP rice distribution to be an effective step in maintaining the balance of supply and prices in the market. According to the official, with strong stock availability and an extensive distribution network, the public does not need to worry about the adequacy of the national rice supply.
BULOG also ensured that all government rice reserves currently managed are in a safe condition and ready for use at any time to support national food stabilisation policies.
“We urge the public to remain calm because the national rice stock is in a very sufficient condition. BULOG, together with the National Food Agency and all stakeholders, will continue to work to ensure that rice prices remain stable and the food needs of the community are met,” concluded Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani.
