To Improve Public Services, LAN Aceh Study Centre Visits Kualanamu Immigration
The Study and Training Centre of the National Institute of Public Administration (Pusajar SKMK LAN) Aceh conducted a field study visit to the Kualanamu Special Class I Immigration Office (TPI) in Medan, North Sumatra. The visit aimed to directly study innovations in governance and the modernisation of digital-based immigration services.
A total of 20 participants from the leadership training programme of Pusajar SKMK LAN Aceh visited the Kualanamu Immigration Office on Tuesday (6/10/2026). This field study is an integral part of the leadership training curriculum, designed to equip civil servants (ASN) with best practices for fast, transparent, and accountable public services.
The Head of Pusajar SKMK LAN Aceh, Said Fadhil, stated that the selection of the Kualanamu Immigration Office as the study location was based on the agency’s track record in implementing sustainable public service innovations. Furthermore, the office has successfully achieved the Corruption-Free Area (WBK) and Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Area (WBBM) designations.
“We observe that Kualanamu Immigration possesses a strategic advantage in managing international gateways with high-value service standards. Through this visit, participants are expected to adopt and adapt existing leadership strategies and technological innovations to be implemented in their respective agencies upon returning to Aceh,” said Said Fadhil.
During the visit, the Kualanamu Immigration Office welcomed the participants and presented various flagship programmes, ranging from the digitalisation of autogate systems at international arrival gates and the efficiency of passport application processes, to leadership strategies for building a service-oriented work culture within the immigration environment.
In addition to presentations and interactive discussions regarding leadership challenges in the public sector, participants also participated in a direct field trip to the passport and immigration residence permit service areas.
Furthermore, Pusajar SKMK LAN Aceh hopes that this field study will help produce future bureaucratic leaders capable of accelerating bureaucratic reform in the Aceh region and beyond.
