To Finance War Against Iran, US Defence Budget Swells to Rp 25 Quadrillion
The United States Congress is being urged to approve a defence budget proposal amounting to $1.5 trillion (approximately Rp 25.5 quadrillion) for 2027. According to AFP, this proposal was submitted by President Donald Trump on Friday (3 April 2026), marking the largest defence budget request in the history of the United States. The effort to increase the budget stems from the Pentagon’s need for additional resources to sustain military campaigns in Iran. “This is just an unrealistic request for more money for weapons and bombs, and less for things that the public needs, such as housing, healthcare, education, highways, scientific research, and environmental protection,” stated Jeff, quoted from Reuters on Friday (3 April 2026). However, NASA has just launched the Artemis programme, sending four astronauts to orbit the Moon. “The White House is requesting a 23 per cent reduction for the agency, including a $3.6 billion cut to the science unit that would cancel around 40 programmes,” reported Reuters. These budget cuts are resulting in the US falling behind China, which is making rapid advances in space technology.
