The West Jakarta Branch Executive Board (DPC) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) seeks to embrace the youth generation in party activities. The involvement of young people is deemed important, as they constitute the largest voter base at present.

Deputy Chairman of the DPC PKB West Jakarta, Uwais El Qoroni, stated that a new approach is needed to reach young voters who are increasingly critical. Therefore, a more relevant and participatory approach is required.

“To attract the sympathy of critical young voters, PKB must prioritise involvement, not just campaigns,” he said in his statement on Monday (20/4/2026).

According to the Jakarta Provincial DPRD member, his side will create relevant programmes such as creative economy development, job opportunities, and environmental issues that concern the youth generation. In addition, active presence in digital spaces with transparent and inclusive communication is essential to expand participation opportunities for young people.

“We are opening spaces for the youth generation to be directly involved in the policy formulation process as well as social activities. Most importantly, we must show real track records, because the youth generation does not easily believe in promises without evidence,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the DPC PKB West Jakarta, Ahmad Ruslan, emphasised that the approach to the youth generation must be accompanied by real presence in the midst of society. According to him, real presence is very necessary to accommodate aspirations from the community.

“We encourage cadres to be active in assisting SMEs, distributing targeted social assistance, and advocating for residents in various daily issues, from access to public services to environmental issues,” he said.

PKB West Jakarta assesses that the youth generation should not only be approached as voters. More than that, they must also be involved as part of the solution through concrete programmes and community-based collaboration.
