To Curb Residents' Spending, Pasuruan Regency Holds Three-Day Affordable Market
The Pasuruan Regency Government has once again held an Affordable Market over three consecutive days from 7 to 9 September 2026. Centred on the grounds of the Grati District Office, the event aims to curb residents’ spending on daily necessities.
The Regional Secretary of Pasuruan Regency, Yudha Triwidya Sasongko, officially opened the event on Monday (7/9). He stressed that the initiative is a strategic step by the regional government to safeguard food security.
“This affordable market is not merely a meeting of sellers and buyers. It is the government’s way of helping people to access staple food prices more easily. In effect, it helps to support people’s purchasing power,” Yudha said in a written statement on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
A wide range of commodities was on sale well below market prices. Visitors could buy SPHP rice at Rp 54,000 per 5 kg, premium rice at Rp 70,000 per 5 kg, granulated sugar at Rp 14,000 per kg, and Minyakita cooking oil at Rp 13,000 per litre.
Other food commodities were also available, including Sovia premium cooking oil at Rp 17,000 per litre, eggs at Rp 20,000 per box, as well as flour and soy sauce. Kitchen seasoning essentials such as shallots and garlic were also sold at Rp 5,000 to Rp 6,000 per 250 grams.
The Head of Pasuruan Regency’s Office for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Industry and Trade, Taufikhul Ghony, said the event’s success was thanks to the synergy of many parties. State logistics firm Bulog and various well-known private companies contributed supplies.
“Beyond the relevant regional apparatus organisations, we also involved many other parties so that everyone can help people obtain staple goods at more affordable prices,” Ghony said.
The organisers not only partnered with major companies but also facilitated local MSMEs and small-scale industries in the area. They were given dedicated stalls to sell regional products while introducing the potential of their respective villages.
“We also provided stalls for local MSMEs and small industries so they could quickly introduce their products and become known to buyers during the affordable market,” he explained.
This cross-sector collaboration is expected to continue for the welfare of Pasuruan’s residents. Yudha expressed appreciation to all parties and business partners who were directly involved in making the economic event a success.
“On behalf of the Pasuruan Regency Government and on behalf of Regent Rusdi Sutejo, we extend our thanks to everyone who helped make the affordable market a success from the first day to the last,” Yudha concluded.
