To Commemorate Kartini Day, Novita Hardini Launches Book on Women's Stories
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for East Java’s VII electoral district and Chair of the Trenggalek Regency PKK Movement Team, Novita Hardini, launched a book titled “Bising dan Hening” at the TGX Women Summit. This event forms part of the commemorations for Kartini Day, observed annually on 21 April.
The book launch was timed to coincide with the significant momentum of Kartini Day, which symbolises women’s struggles. The book “Bising dan Hening” chronicles the journeys of several women who have successfully navigated various life trials.
Novita explained that the book is intended to serve as a space for reflection and learning for women in facing life’s dynamics. She emphasised that women’s primary strength often comes from within themselves.
“Because I am a young person and a woman who happens to hold a mandate in Commission VII, I must ignite creative stimuli for our young people,” said Novita, who is also the Founder of UPRINTIS Indonesia.
She added that every life struggle can be transformed into a meaningful work. Through this book, women are encouraged to express their life experiences in writing, which can ultimately become personal memoirs.
According to her, the book contains historical stories of women who have endured various life trials, complete with how they persevered and the thoughts they expressed in writing.
“The message I wish to convey through this book is that sometimes, the only one capable of advising us in life is ourselves. So when someone writes it down in a piece of writing and revisits their own writing two or five years later, I hope that whoever writes in this book will regard it as the best advice for their future,” said Novita, who is also a member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives.
In addition to the book launch, the TGX Women Summit held at the NSC Cinema Building also featured works by talented young filmmakers from Trenggalek Regency. The event screened one documentary film and one animated film produced by local talents.
Novita assessed that the creative economy in Trenggalek is showing positive development. She admitted to frequently encountering young talents from Trenggalek who thrive in major cities such as Yogyakarta and others, producing works that compete at the national level.
Recognising this potential, she committed to supporting local talents to continue creating. Not only through books, but also through various other creative projects involving the Trenggalek community.
“Later with films too, I will collaborate with talents from Trenggalek Regency. And, God willing, this year I will hold a Workshop or Boot Camp from Emtek to train all the content creators in Trenggalek Regency,” she concluded.
