PT Pegadaian has officially opened its first overseas branch in Dili, Timor Leste. This expansion marks a new milestone in the company’s business journey as it enters its 125th year.

The opening of the branch was officiated by PT Pegadaian’s President Director, Damar Latri Setiawan, accompanied by Chairman of the Board AM Putranto and Director of Network & Operations Eka Pebriansyah at the Pegadaian Timor Leste Branch, on Monday (30/3).

The opening of this branch signifies Pegadaian’s strategic step in expanding its services to the international level, while strengthening its position as a financial services company.

Damar stated that Pegadaian’s presence in Timor Leste is not only focused on business expansion but also to bring inclusive financial solutions to the local community.

“The presence of Pegadaian in the land of Timor Leste embodies the spirit of collaboration to grow together. We see the geographical and historical closeness as a strong foundation for building long-term partnerships. We want to bring our 125 years of experience in supporting SMEs in Indonesia to empower local business actors here,” Damar said in a written statement on Monday (30/3/2026).

As part of the Ultra Micro (UMi) Holding, this expansion is supported by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI), which has been present in Timor Leste since 2017. This synergy is expected to strengthen the financial services ecosystem, particularly for the ultra-micro segment and SMEs in Timor Leste.

Through collaboration with BRI, Pegadaian will complement existing financial services, expand access to financing, and increase financial literacy among the community.

“Pegadaian will provide easier access to financing so that business actors in Timor Leste have the capital to grow and develop. One of the programmes we offer is Gadai Peduli or Gadai Bebas Sewa Modal. This programme is free from capital rental fees for 2 months with a maximum loan of $100 during April 2026,” Damar added.

In the future, Pegadaian will focus on delivering fast and easy financial solutions, which have been the company’s strengths. With the spirit of “Serving Wholeheartedly”, Pegadaian is optimistic about becoming a strategic partner in driving sustainable economic growth in Timor Leste while strengthening relations between the two countries through the people’s economic sector.

For information, the event was also attended by Timor Leste’s Deputy Prime Minister Mariano Assanami Sabino Lopes, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Timor Leste Okto Dorinus Manik, BRI’s SEVP Ultra Micro Business Muhammad Candra Utama, and representatives of other SOEs operating in Timor Leste.
