In commemoration of Earth Day, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will enforce a lights-off period on Saturday, 25 April 2026. The action will last one hour, from 20:30 to 21:30 WIB.

“Sobat Jakarta, come join the energy-saving action to celebrate Earth Day! Together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, let’s reduce carbon emissions in Jakarta by turning off lights for one hour,” stated the official DKI Jakarta account along with the Provincial Environmental Agency (DLH), on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

The lights-off will involve shutting down lights on several roads and buildings in various areas. The Provincial Government is also inviting the public to participate in the action simultaneously.

The following are some locations where the one-hour lights-off will be applied:

  • All buildings/government offices of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, except hospitals (RS), community health centres (Puskesmas), clinics, etc.

  • Several privately owned buildings, commercial buildings, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, and apartments.

The road sections where the lights-off will be implemented are as follows:

  • Central Jakarta

Jl. Sudirman (Dukuh Atas - Sampoerna Strategic Building), and Jl. MH. Thamrin; Around Jl. Medan Merdeka (Medan Merdeka Subdistrict, North in front of the Presidential Palace), Jl. Gerbang Pemuda - Jl. Asia Afrika, City Hall Grounds, Central Jakarta Mayor’s Office.

  • North Jakarta

Jl. Yos Sudarso, North Jakarta Mayor’s Office Complex, and Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan.

  • East Jakarta

Jl. Dr. Sumarno, Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, and East Jakarta Mayor’s Office Complex.

  • West Jakarta

Jl. Daan Mogot and Jl. Kemanggisan Raya (in front of the West Jakarta Mayor’s Office) and West Jakarta Mayor’s Office Complex.

Furthermore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government conveyed information that the simultaneous lights-off conducted last year in 2025 successfully saved electricity consumption by up to 439.76 MWh and economic savings of Rp636,655,763. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by 365.53 tons of CO².
