To Boost Oil and Gas Production, Pertamina Explores Collaboration with EOG Resources
PT Pertamina (Persero) is exploring ways to strengthen its collaboration with the US oil and gas company EOG Resources to drive an increase in national oil and gas production.
This exploration builds on the previous collaboration between the two companies.
On this occasion, Pertamina’s Deputy CEO Oki Muraza met with EOG Resources’ leadership, including President of EOG International and Vice President International Joe Korenek, as well as Director of Business Development International Jonathan Chung.
The meeting discussed opportunities for further development of the partnership, particularly regarding unconventional reservoirs in Indonesia.
Pertamina’s Deputy CEO Oki Muraza stated that expanding this collaboration is part of the company’s strategy to boost national oil and gas production.
“Pertamina is currently focusing on developing existing fields while also promoting the development of unconventional reservoirs. To that end, we continue to strengthen our capabilities, knowledge, and mastery of technology to support sustainable production optimisation,” he said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday (8/5/2026).
This policy is expected to create a more attractive investment ecosystem while providing certainty for the implementation of technology in the field.
As a company with experience in developing shale and tight reservoirs, EOG Resources is considered to have relevant capabilities to support the increase in Indonesia’s oil and gas production through a technology-based approach and operational efficiency.
Through this continued collaboration, Pertamina hopes to accelerate the utilisation of unconventional oil and gas resource potential as a new pillar for increasing national production, while also strengthening Indonesia’s energy resilience.
As a leading company in the energy transition sector, Pertamina is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target for 2060 and continues to promote programmes that directly impact the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
All these efforts align with Pertamina’s transformation, which is oriented towards governance, public service, business sustainability, and the environment, by applying environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles across all business lines and operations of Pertamina.
