To Boost Graduate Employment, Binawan University Promotes Industry-Based Curriculum
Jakarta, VIVA – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the open unemployment rate for higher education graduates — from Diploma IV through to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels — reached 6.23 per cent in February 2025.
Meanwhile, the government itself has stated that around 1.01 million higher education graduates remain unabsorbed by the world of work.
“This condition demonstrates the importance of strengthening the linkage between higher education institutions and the needs of the business and industrial world through adaptive, competency-based education,” said Said Saleh Alwyni, Chair of the Binawan Foundation, in a statement on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Given this situation, Binawan University has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously strengthening its role as an educational institution oriented towards employability, research and international collaboration.
Said assured that this commitment is reinforced through more than 100 active partnerships with various universities, hospitals, government institutions, professional organisations and industry partners, both at home and abroad.
“These collaborations form the foundation for developing an industry-based curriculum, improving research quality, academic exchanges, and opening up global career access for students and alumni,” said Said.
Through its 25th Dies Natalis celebration, themed “Anchored in Akhlaq, Driven by Digital Innovation, Positioned for the World”, Said affirmed that the anniversary serves as a moment of reflection for the entire Binawan University academic community.
It also serves as a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to building higher education grounded in moral values, strengthened by digital innovation and oriented towards global competitiveness.
“We are grateful that Binawan University continues to grow while remaining rooted in akhlaq as its main foundation, whilst remaining able to adapt to technological developments and the needs of the working world,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Rector of Binawan University, Prof. Henny Suzana Mediani, stated that all of the university’s achievements are the result of collaboration across the entire academic community, industry partners and stakeholders who have continued to support the institution’s transformation.
She affirmed that the success in raising graduate employment to 93 per cent, the increase in lecturers holding doctorates, the growth of research capacity within the Main Cluster, and the widening of international career opportunities are all indicators that Binawan University is moving in the right direction.
“We will continue to strengthen the quality of education, produce relevant research, and develop graduates who are not only academically excellent, but who also possess character, global competence and the ability to adapt to change,” she said.
