To Boost Graduate Employment, Binawan University Promotes Industry-Based Curriculum

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the open unemployment rate for higher education graduates, from Diploma IV to Doctoral level, reached 6.23 per cent in February 2025. Meanwhile, the government itself stated that there are approximately 1.01 million university graduates who have not yet been absorbed by the workforce. “This condition shows the importance of strengthening the link between universities and the needs of the business and industrial world through adaptive and competency-based education,” said Chairman of the Binawan Foundation, Said Saleh Alwyni, in a statement on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Given these conditions, Binawan University affirmed its commitment to continuously strengthen its role as an educational institution oriented towards employability, research, and international collaboration. Said confirmed that this commitment is reinforced through more than 100 active partnerships with various universities, hospitals, government institutions, professional organisations, and industry partners, both domestically and abroad. “This collaboration is the foundation for developing an industry-based curriculum, improving research quality, academic exchanges, and opening global career access for students and alumni,” said Said. Through the commemoration of its 25th Dies Natalis with the theme “Anchored in Akhlaq, Driven by Digital Innovation, Positioned for the World”, Said emphasised that this celebration is a moment of reflection for the entire academic community of Binawan University. It also serves as an affirmation of Binawan University’s commitment to building higher education based on moral values, strengthened by digital innovation, and oriented towards global competitiveness. “We are grateful that Binawan University continues to develop while making akhlaq the main foundation, while also being able to adapt to technological developments and the needs of the workforce,” he said. Meanwhile, Acting Rector of Binawan University, Prof. Henny Suzana Mediani, stated that all of the university’s achievements are the result of collaboration among the entire academic community, industry partners, and stakeholders who continue to support the institution’s transformation. She emphasised that the success in increasing graduate absorption to 93 per cent, the increase in lecturers with doctoral degrees, the increase in research capacity to the Main Cluster, and the widening of international career opportunities are indicators that Binawan University continues to move in the right direction. “We will continue to strengthen the quality of education, produce relevant research, and build graduates who are not only academically excellent but also have character, global competence, and the ability to adapt to change,” she said.
