To Avoid Sanctions, Bobotoh Barred from Lighting Flares in Persib Bandung vs Persijap Jepara Final
Persib Bandung has banned their supporter group Bobotoh from lighting flares and firecrackers during the final of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 against Persijap Jepara at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA) on Saturday, 23 May. Deputy CEO Adhitia Putra Herawan asked Bobotoh to prioritise safety and comply with regulations during the match and the trophy presentation if Persib wins. ‘We strongly forbid flares, firecrackers, and similar devices, specifically during the match and up to the trophy presentation,’ he said in Bandung on Wednesday, 20 May. He explained that the use of flares can disrupt the proceedings, diminish spectator comfort, and affect the broadcasting quality. While acknowledging that flare usage is part of the culture for some supporter groups, he urged Bobotoh to restrain themselves until the official celebrations are completed. ‘Please do not do this until the trophy presentation is finished if Persib wins.’ He added that once the trophy presentation is over, Bobotoh are welcome to celebrate outside the stadium while maintaining order. ‘After that, if they wish to celebrate outside the stadium, including any parade, they may do so.’ Meanwhile, West Java Police (Polda Jabar) Head of Operations Kombes Pol Laode Aries said they would tighten checks on attending supporters to ensure all spectators comply with regulations. He explained that the security pattern around the stadium would be divided into four rings, extending from the outer areas to the entrances of the stands. ‘Spectators are prohibited from bringing dangerous items such as flares, fireworks, or any objects that could be thrown into the stadium. In addition, drinks in plastic bottles and cans are not permitted into the stands,’ he said. Persib Bandung currently occupies the top spot in the standings with 78 points from 33 matches, two points ahead of Borneo FC in second place.
