To Anticipate Congestion on the Tangerang–Merak Toll Road, Astra Infra Implements a Delaying System

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – PT Marga Mandasakti (Perseroan) or Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak, the manager, has implemented a delaying system on the Tangerang–Merak Toll Road as part of traffic management ahead of the Lebaran homecoming period. Uswah said an estimated 154,000 vehicles would pass the Tangerang–Merak Toll per day during the Lebaran period, lower than normal due to vehicle restrictions during the period. The Average Daily Traffic (Lalu Lintas Harian Rata-rata, LHR) on the Tangerang–Merak Toll stands at 155,000 vehicles.

“It is a slight decrease of about 0.2 percent, but higher than Lebaran traffic last year,” Uswah noted.

Preparations cover road infrastructure, facilities, and traffic management on the ground. “The readiness includes road infrastructure, facilities, and of course traffic management, including personnel,” she said.

At toll plaza service, the toll road operator has added tandem toll booths and mobile readers to tap electronic toll cards, as well as increasing the number of staff. “So if there is a surge in volume, transactions can be faster, thereby minimising queues at toll gates,” she added.

Therefore, Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang–Merak is increasing the number of toll road cleaning staff, patching personnel, and drainage staff.
