To Alleviate Poverty, Baznas Provides Sharia Spa Training for Mustahik
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) has provided vocational skills training in Sharia-compliant spa therapy and massage to 40 female mustahik in Tangerang, Banten, as an effort to curb unemployment rates while improving community welfare. Baznas RI’s Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment Division, Idy Muzayyad, stated that the programme is part of utilising zakat funds for productive activities focused on the economic empowerment of mustahik. Idy added that this aligns with the objectives of zakat management, namely to encourage the transformation of mustahik into muzaki, where participants are expected to enhance their economic standing and contribute through zakat, infak, and sedekah. He assessed that the training not only emphasises skills but also Sharia aspects as the core value. According to him, it is important to provide spa, cupping, and massage services that comply with Sharia principles, rather than mere labelling. “What we aim to build is not just skills, but also a business ecosystem that adheres to Sharia and brings blessings,” he said. One of the training participants, Rika Dewi Yanti (34), a housewife, expressed her gratitude for joining the programme. She believes this opportunity is invaluable, as similar trainings usually incur significant costs. “I am very pleased because this training is free and facilitated by Baznas. Normally, such trainings are paid and quite expensive, so this is very helpful for us, especially housewives like me,” she said. She hopes similar programmes will continue and reach more women. “Thank you to Baznas for this highly beneficial programme. May in the future more women be empowered and able to improve their family economies,” Rika stated.
