TNT opens office in Batam

JAKARTA (JP): Delivery service company PT TNT Indonesia opened on Wednesday a new office in Batam as part of its expansion program.

Company president Colin Moran said in statement that the Batam office at the Jamsostek building on Jl. Imam Bonjol, Nagoya, Batam, was established to meet the growing demand for courier service in the industrial island.

"We've earmarked Batam as a strategic element in our operation, and we're confident that it will continue to grow in importance for our domestic, import and export customers," he said in a seminar on Free Trade Zone in Batam.

Morgan said the company had allocated about Rp 750 million (US$65,700) to establish the office, including the setting up of its latest service of tracking via Internet.

He expected the new office would increase its delivery volume to 300 consignments per week within the first three months from the current level of 100 consignments per week.

TNT Indonesia, represented by PT Skypak International for express business and by PT TNT Logistik Indonesia for logistics business in Indonesia, is part of the TNT International global network. (05)
