TNI's Statement on the Continuation of Investigation into Four Soldiers in Acid Attack Case Against KontraS Activist

Puspom TNI has commented on demands to release photos of four TNI soldiers suspected of throwing acid on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Puspom TNI stated that the investigation into the case is still ongoing at present.

“I need to convey that the investigation process against the four personnel suspected of assaulting Brother AY is currently underway,” said TNI’s Head of Information, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, when confirmed on Monday (23/3/2026).

Aulia then asked the public to wait until the entire investigation process is complete.

“Please wait until the entire investigation process by Puspom TNI investigators is fully carried out,” he said.

Demands for Release of Soldiers’ Photos to the Public

Previously, the Advocacy Team for Democracy urged Puspom TNI to be transparent regarding the designation of four soldiers as suspects allegedly involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The Advocacy Team demanded that Puspom release photos of the four soldiers to the public.

“We are also following the developments of the investigation by the TNI Central Military Police (Puspom), which at the same time stated that it has ‘secured’ four TNI personnel as suspected perpetrators with identities Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES,” stated the Advocacy Team for Democracy, quoted on Monday (23/3).

“Therefore, we urge Puspom TNI to act transparently and accountably by releasing photos or directly showing the perpetrators so that their authenticity can be independently verified by the public,” it added.

Four Soldiers Handed Over to Puspom TNI

Puspom TNI revealed that there are four TNI BAIS soldiers who are suspected perpetrators. The four perpetrators are initialled NDP, SL, BHW, and ES.

TNI’s Deputy Chief of Puspom, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four perpetrators are members of the TNI BAIS Military Police unit from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.

He said that the suspects are currently secured. They are also still being thoroughly investigated by Puspom TNI.
