TNI Will Not Tolerate Soldiers Breaking the Law: They Will Be Tried and Dismissed
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has emphasised that it will not tolerate any soldiers who commit legal violations. The TNI will impose firm sanctions, ranging from dishonourable dismissal to trials in military courts.
This was stated by TNI’s Head of Information, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in East Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Aulia initially noted that strict sanctions have been prepared for any soldiers who violate the law.
“The TNI reaffirms its commitment to firmly addressing every legal and disciplinary violation committed by TNI soldiers,” Aulia said.
Aulia stated that the TNI will not tolerate acts of legal violations or criminal offences by its soldiers. He mentioned that the TNI institution will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
“For TNI soldiers who commit legal violations or criminal acts, the TNI declares no tolerance,” he explained.
Aulia said that TNI soldiers who commit criminal acts or violate the law will be detained and tried in military courts. The TNI, he added, will also dishonourably discharge any soldiers who break the law.
“It will take firm action in accordance with applicable legal provisions, either through military courts, the imposition of disciplinary punishments such as detention and removal from position, or dishonourable dismissal from military service,” he said.
