TNI Village Development Programme Transforms Five Families' Lives in Sukoharjo

Margono’s house in Parangjoro village, Grogol sub-district, Sukoharjo regency, was once far from habitable. Its walls were still made of rotting planks, the roof frequently leaked when it rained, and the floor was bare earth.

The condition of the house has now been completely transformed after it became one of the targets of the Unfit House Renovation (RTLH) programme under the 129th regular TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa (TMMD) operation conducted by Kodim 0726/Sukoharjo.

It was not only Margono’s house; five residents’ homes were renovated through the programme so that they are safer, healthier and fit for habitation.

The change came about through the mutual cooperation of TMMD task force personnel and the local community. Every day they worked shoulder to shoulder transporting building materials, laying bricks, mixing cement and repairing residents’ roofs.

The commander of the 129th regular TMMD task force, Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry Reza Sahputra, said the RTLH renovation was one form of the TNI’s concern to help improve people’s quality of life.

“Through this TMMD, we want to deliver benefits that are genuinely felt by the community. Not only infrastructure development, but also helping residents to have safer, healthier and more comfortable places to live. The five houses targeted under this RTLH programme represent the TNI’s care so that people in our guidance area can live more decently. We hope programmes like this can continue to strengthen synergy and togetherness between the TNI and the community,” he said on Monday, 27 July 2026.

The head of Parangjoro village, Hardiman, also expressed appreciation for the implementation of the 129th regular TMMD. According to him, the house-renovation programme was meaningful assistance for residents who had long yearned for decent housing.

He also assessed that collaboration between the TNI, the village government and the community was the key to delivering development whose benefits are directly felt by residents.

Meanwhile, Margono admitted he had never imagined that the house he had lived in with his family would finally be renovated.

“I am deeply grateful and thankful to the government, through the TNI, for helping my family. I never expected this house could become as good as it is now. May the TNI always be granted health, safety and protection in carrying out its duties,” said Margono.
