TNI to Soon Construct Territorial Battalion in Central Bangka
Koba, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will soon realise the construction of a Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP) in Nibung Village, Koba Subdistrict, Central Bangka Regency, to strengthen national sovereignty while supporting national food security.
Commander of Kodam II/Sriwijaya Major General TNI Ujang Darwis, during an inspection of the construction site in Nibung Village on Wednesday, stated that his side has received a strategic land grant of 50 hectares.
“We have obtained a land grant of 50 hectares in a very strategic location, and in the near future, after budget allocation from the Ministry of Defence, construction will commence immediately,” he said.
He mentioned that among several locations inspected, Central Bangka is the most ready area for the Yonif TP construction, both in terms of land status and area size.
“The land provided by the local government is already very ready, with no obstacles and clear status (clean and clear),” he stated.
Ujang emphasised that the visit was conducted to ensure construction readiness while supporting the government’s programme to strengthen territorial defence across Indonesia.
“I deliberately came with the main officials of Kodam to see the field conditions directly. Overall, this location is very suitable for development,” he said.
Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman stated that the granted land has clear and clean (CnC) status, or administratively ready.
He acknowledged that part of the land was previously used by the community for oil palm plantations. However, through the village government’s approach, the landowners have willingly relinquished it without compensation demands.
Algafry hopes that the construction of the TNI AD headquarters will be realised soon to strengthen regional defence while supporting food security programmes in the area.
The construction of this TP Battalion is also expected to provide economic impacts for the local community, particularly through labour absorption and increased economic activity around the construction site.
“The presence of the TP Battalion can strengthen synergy between TNI and the local government in implementing development programmes, especially in the agriculture sector and area-based food security,” he said.
