TNI to Build Post in Kolf Braza to Secure Logistics Ships from KKB

Jayapura – The Commander of Kodam XXIV/Mandala Trikora, Major General TNI Frits Wilem Rizard Pelamonia, stated that a TNI post will be built in Kolf Braza in Asmat Regency, South Papua, to address disruptions by the armed criminal group (KKB) against logistics transport ships. The KKB has previously fired upon a logistics ship.

“The placement of the TNI post is to secure logistics transport ships heading to Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, given that on Sunday (3/5), the KKB fired upon a passing ship,” said the Pangdam when contacted from Jayapura on Monday.

The Pangdam explained that the establishment of the post is solely to facilitate TNI assistance if ships or residents are attacked by the KKB.

Moreover, on Monday (4/5), the KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo carried out a shooting, so with the presence of the TNI post, any disturbances can be handled immediately.

As a result of the shooting incident, logistics transport ships were afraid to continue their journey and waited in Soator.

Soator District currently has a Koramil, but the distance to Kolf Braza is about 101 kilometres. “Currently, those ships have reportedly docked at Dekai Port after a joint TNI-Polri team secured their journey,” said the Pangdam.

The operational area of Kodam XXIV/Mandala Trikora covers four regencies in South Papua Province, namely Merauke Regency, Boven Digoel, Mappi, and Asmat Regency.
