TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency Head Position Becomes 'Victim' of Andrie Yunus Acid Attack Case Fallout

The TNI Headquarters has stated that the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), held by Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo, has been handed over as a consequence of the probe into the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. “We need to convey here that, as a form of accountability, the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out today,” said the Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, during a press conference at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. Aulia was asked for more details about the handover and whether the Kabais position would be filled by another official. However, Aulia did not provide a detailed explanation on the matter. It is known that four members of Bais—Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES—have been designated as suspected perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. To date, the four suspected perpetrators remain under examination by the TNI’s internal investigation team.
