TNI Soldiers Suspected in Andrie Yunus Sulphuric Acid Attack to be Tried on 29 April
The case file for the sulphuric acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has been received by the Military Court II-08 in Jakarta. The first hearing will be held on 29 April.
“The Military Court II-08 Jakarta has received the transfer of the case file from the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta. The case, which is already known, involves the alleged sulphuric acid attack carried out by four suspects who will now become defendants in the trial,” said the Head of Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Colonel Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, quoted from detikNews on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Fredy stated that there are four defendants in this case. All four are members of the TNI’s Bais Denma from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
“The four are Captain NDP, then First Lieutenant DHW, then First Lieutenant SL, and Sergeant Second EF,” he said.
Fredy mentioned that the military court has one day to examine the case file. Subsequently, the case will be registered, and the first hearing will be conducted.
“The estimated date, we can already inform, will be held on Wednesday, the first hearing on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda is the reading of the indictment. The defendants will definitely be present at the first hearing and are required to attend,” he said.
The four suspects are charged under layered articles related to the criminal offence of serious assault.
“For the charges, we are charging subsidiarity or layered charges. Primarily, we apply Article 469 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years. For the subsidiary, Article 448 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter C with a maximum prison sentence of 8 years. For the further subsidiary, Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 20 letter C with a maximum of 7 years,” said the Head of Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya.
