JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the PKS Faction, Nasir Djamil, wondered whether the four TNI soldiers were merely following orders from superiors or acting on their own initiative when they splashed acid on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

“The question is, did they act on personal initiative, or were they carrying out orders from superiors? This is what needs to be thoroughly investigated and the thread uncovered,” said Nasir to Kompas.com on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Nasir stated that Commission III of the DPR thanks the TNI leadership for acknowledging that its members carried out the acid splashing.

Nevertheless, Nasir feels that both the police and the military should be appreciated for quickly uncovering the acid splashing case.

He believes that the cooperation between the two institutions will eliminate public doubts about the outcome of resolving the case.

“The cooperation between the police and the military is expected to be able to find and answer public questions, whether the perpetrators acted alone or if there were superiors who ordered the crime,” he said.

Nasir hopes that the involved TNI soldiers will be tried through the ad hoc military court if there is indeed civilian involvement as well.

“It is hoped that the DPR can also provide suggestions so that the trial process is carried out with the ad hoc military court mechanism, if in the criminal act of acid splashing it also involves civilians,” Nasir added.

Andrie Yunus was splashed with acid by unknown individuals in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

Coordinator of the KontraS Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, said that the attack caused Andrie to suffer injuries to several parts of his body.

“Especially on the right and left hand areas, face, chest, and eye area,” Dimas revealed to Kompas.com on Friday (13/3/2026).

From the examination results, he was found to have burns covering around 24 percent.

Dimas explained that the acid splashing incident occurred shortly after Andrie finished recording a podcast titled “Militarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia” held at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Jakarta.
