Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The performance allowance (tukin) for Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers will increase in 2026, after eight years without adjustment. This is set out in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 42 of 2026 on the Performance Allowance for TNI Soldiers.

In line with this, the government has also raised the performance allowance for Ministry of Defence employees through Presidential Regulation Number 43 of 2026 on the Performance Allowance for Ministry of Defence Personnel.

According to the annex of Presidential Regulation Number 42 of 2026, the TNI soldiers’ allowance has been adjusted across all position classes. The details are as follows:

  • Allowance for position class 1: Rp2.5 million.

  • Allowance for position classes 2 to 8: Rp2,931,100 to Rp5,472,100.

  • Allowance for position classes 9 to 11: Rp6,276,600 to Rp9,852,300.

  • Allowance for position classes 12 to 14: Rp11,133,000 to Rp19,485,000.

  • Allowance for position class 15: Rp21,690,000.

  • Allowance for position class 16: Rp30,058,800.

  • Allowance for position class 17: Rp37,395,000.

  • Allowance for three-star positions: Rp44,874,000.

  • Allowance for four-star positions: Rp48,613,500.

Under Perpres 42, in addition to position classes, there are special allowance amounts for certain officials within the TNI. High-ranking three-star TNI officials, such as the Chief of the General Staff (Kasum) of the TNI and the deputy chiefs of staff of the services, receive an allowance of Rp44,874,000 per month.

The highest allowance is given to four-star officials, namely the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), the Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL), and the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU), at Rp48,613,500 per month.

Ministry of Defence Spokesman Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait previously said the policy reflects the government’s appreciation for bureaucratic reform achievements and improved performance within the Defence Ministry and the TNI.

“From the Defence Ministry’s perspective, we welcome this policy as a form of the government’s appreciation for the achievements of bureaucratic reform and improved performance of the Defence Ministry and the TNI. This adjustment is expected to further boost the motivation, professionalism, and quality of service of all personnel in carrying out their duties of safeguarding national sovereignty and supporting the government’s strategic programmes,” he said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday (8/9/2026).

Rico explained that the adjustment was made by raising the performance allowance payment index from 70% to 90% of the national performance allowance value according to position class. This represents an increase of 20 percentage points compared with the previous scheme.

“Previously, the Defence Ministry and TNI performance allowance was paid at 70% of the national performance allowance value according to position class, and through the latest Presidential Regulation this has been adjusted to 90%,” he said.

Nevertheless, the amount received by each member of personnel will differ, as it follows their respective position classes, as set out above.
